Experiencing the suicide of a close friend during my early twenties had a profound impact on me. It was a challenging time as I lacked the necessary support and someone to confide in. Consequently, I endured years of struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, excessive overthinking, and stress. I recognized that there must be an underlying cause for these emotions, realizing that they were not my natural state. Later in life, I became a caregiver for my child with additional needs, which exposed me to numerous traumatic experiences. Mental illness gradually eroded my confidence, motivation, and self-esteem. At that point, I realized I had two options: to continue as I was and remain trapped in this state or to fully commit to making a change.
Initially, the idea of change was met with resistance. However, I came to understand that reprogramming my mindset was the only path to true transformation. I embarked on a challenging journey to regain control of my life and discovered various techniques to reclaim my happiness. It took years of trial and error to reach where I am today, and along the way, I absorbed profound lessons that have shaped me. Now, I have organized these insights into a workshop, offering others an opportunity to benefit from my experiences. It's important to note that although the concept is simple, the process is far from easy. If happiness and contentment are paramount, why don't we prioritize their attainment more actively?
To achieve happiness and contentment, one must practice and put in the work. As Isaac Newton famously stated, "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction."
